Days without a shower, sharing toilets with the thousands and sleeping on the floor? It must be festival season!

Festivals are most people’s idea of hell, but the flip side is the music, the people and the atmosphere. It makes you wonder, how do we bypass being unwashed and still look like Alexa Chung?!

After spending the whole weekend looking at photos of Coachella this weekend and stressing about how close we are to the UK festivals this summer, I’ve piled together a list of festival essentials that should see festival goers through a shower-less weekend and keep you looking fresh for the endless amount of photos I promise you will be taking!

Baby Wipes – These are a no-brainer. For those times you’re left covered in fluorescent paint, mud or maybe worse, a packet of baby wipes will be your best friend! The versatility means (just for these few days) you can also use them to take your make up off, as they hold their own against even the toughest of mascaras.

Dry Shampoo – This is another shower-free essential. The vast majority of people have to wash their hair every other day, meaning between 3-5 days at a festival, it can be a grease nightmare. At festivals between the heat, rain and sweat no-one has the best hair but dry shampoo can be the answer to all your problems.

Hair Accessories – Hair scarves, headbands, bobbles, grips and hairspray are all essentials for a festival. There is nothing worse than flat, limp hair and it only takes seconds to pop it into a bun or tie a scarf around it! Claire’s Accessories do an amazing bun wrap with pink roses wrapped around! Flower garlands, like the one seen on Pixie Lott, are a perfect hair accessory, and not only help your hair look better, but also give you the festival look.

Bottled Water – To wash, brush your teeth, drink; bottled water is very much needed at a festival. With the amount of alcohol you drink, water will not only keep you hydrated and fight off your hangover, but it will also help to maintain your flawless skin and reduce the chance of breakouts.

Make-up – Festival make up is always best kept minimal, it wipes away so easily in the heat. Tinted moisturiser is perfect for the day time, but make sure it is one with an SPF to save carrying sun tan lotion in your bag as well. Mascara and eyeliner are always a must, they widen your eyes and make you look more alert  for that last day struggle. Eyeliner is also great to draw patterns on your face, arms and legs, plus it comes off really easily with baby wipes! SPF lip balm or lip stick are perfect to add a little bit of colour and a whole lot of moisture to your lips.

So there, it’s not  too difficult to have an easy, happy, clean (ish!) festival, and remember that everyone’s in exactly the same boat!
