With the transition of seasons, leaving Winter going into Spring then to Summer, dry skin is a given. But don’t panic, here are some tips on how to go from dry, dull skin to healthy, glowing skin.

Exfoliate Recently we posted a recipe for homemade exfoliator and we say USE IT. By exfoliating three times a week, after cleansing and before moisturising, you will remove dead skin cells that trap impurities in the pores. Impurities, such as acne-causing bacteria will cause break outs on top of dry skin if not removed at least three times a week. It is a necessary step to keep skin soft, fresh and rejuvenated.

Gently does it- Don’t aggravate your skin, or the dryness will just get worse. Gently cleanse, gently wash and gently apply make-up: when applying make up do it with a brush or with cleansed finer tips instead of a sponge. When your face is washed, gentry dry with a clean towel by padding, do not rub aggressively or scratch your skin with the towel.

Warm not hot- When in the shower or bath only use warm water, as hot water strips skin of oils and causes skin to be dry or irritated. Warm water will ensure your skin is kept clean and calm.

Use natural products- Skin products are full of alcohols, and a product that is detrimental to dry skin. Alcohols can strip and dry out the skin of natural oils. By using natural products, or products with less than 10 ingredients, you can ensure your skin keeps hydrated with its natural oils restored whilst remaining fresh, clean and free of ‘dryness’.

So there you have it a few hints to ensure soft, beautiful, glowing, hydrated skin. The perfect skin for summer time… if it ever gets here!
