Palm’s exterior

Back at the tail end of November a new pink bar turned up in Chester. Palm is its name and wowing is its game. The bar has been known for attracting the most fashionable clientele and it was seen from the day it opened its doors. Chester is known for its glammed up girlies and it seemed as though the whole of the North West knew from its launch that it was the place to be.

I found out about them from a collaboration they did with Pretty Little Thing to win a massive gift card. I didn’t win but by following them on Instagram, I soon realised what great company they keep. I’ve seen them host events for fellow Chester brand Doll Beauty as well as some smaller independent retailers too. It seems as though they are really looking out for the local community and bringing the best of the North West with them.

Unfortunate for them – and everyone else – was Covid-19. They had to shut their doors in March. We’ve been able to enjoy a little bit more normal life in the past few weeks with more and more establishments reopening their doors. With the Eat Out to Help Out scheme in play through August, it was a great to visit and see how they were coping with the new state of affairs. I actually went on a Sunday so didn’t get any discount but it was absolutely worth it.

 

THE VENUE AND VIBE

The venue is stunning. It’s pink on the outside – really standing out from every other place on its road – and it’s filled with places to take photos. There’s a glitter wall, flower wall, and everything about the look and feel of the place is just exciting. Just stunning. The staff were so friendly and worked briskly, so I have to praise them too

As for precautions with Covid 19, they were on point in every way. All the staff were in masks, they were constantly cleaning every surface, and in spite of this, it didn’t take away from the glamour of the venue. It’s the kind of place that you would go out to with the girls – when it’s more socially acceptable to do that kind of thing – but it’s still fun as a midday escape for a brunch, like I did.

 

 

BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH

Every Sunday at Palm is dedicated to bottomless brunch. It’s their staple and it’s one of the things that I first knew them for. Although it’s a shame that I didn’t get to sample some of their regular menu, what you do get in the bottomless brunch more than made up for it.

So it goes like this – you come in, they sit you down and they hand you a glass of prosecco with some pastries. There’s then a choice of sweet and savoury brunch dishes for you to choose from. I went for the buttermilk pancakes served with crispy bacon and maple syrup and it was so dreamy. Don’t forget the last bit – for the duration of your nearly 2 hours there you then get the opportunity to choose from some delicious cocktails too.

It seems as though there’s been a flood of Chester venues that offer bottomless brunch services, but Palm has done well to focus on the things that it’s best at: making things so glam that it compel you to take snaps and offering drinks that you will always want more of. It’s great value for money for a treat at £29.95 per person.

Palm shows that independent venues really can put on a show. The rest of their menu is very intriguing but I didn’t try it this time around. I can’t quite figure out the type of cuisine they focus on because there’s like a mix of very American dishes, British ones, Mediterranean ones and other things thrown in there, but it definitely makes me want to come back for more.
