Arriva and Stagecoach have unveiled a new 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week bus route in Liverpool. The 86 and 86A buses will run “all night, every night” from Liverpool One.
The announcement of a night bus coming to Liverpool is some much-needed good news for students. Finding a taxi home to Smithdown, Carnatic or Greenbank after a night out can be a real struggle, especially on big nights such as Halloween.
Many other cities across the UK already provide 24-hour public transport such as London, Birmingham and Bristol.
The 86 and 86A buses can be caught from Hanover Street and beside the bombed-out church every 30 minutes, and will travel through many highly-populated student areas including the Georgian Quarter, Smithdown Road, and Greenbank.
If you want to jet away, the 86A will even continue to John Lennon Airport.
The price of tickets will remain the same as for normal daytime services. Arriva have stated that all their multi-journey saver tickets will be valid through the night.
The buses will leave the first stop, located by the Liverpool Hilton, at 12:29 and will continue until normal service resumes at 5:24.
The 24-hour service will start on the 4th of September.
