The Formula 1 season is in full effect following the first two races of the season. These competitions did not disappoint, and hopefully, you found the correct betting information and won some money. However, whether you are a big bettor or choose to watch the races for fun, Formula 1 is one of the most exciting sports in the world.
It’s viewed by people all over the world, and the races take place in numerous countries. The drivers have a week off after the first two races of the season, so it’s a perfect time to catch up on the early season results. This will set you up for success when the action returns at the Australian Grand Prix on April 10.
Bahrain Grand Prix
The season’s first race was dominated by the Ferrari cars, which was a shocker. Red Bull and Mercedes were the two teams that dominated the Drivers and Constructors’ Championships last season. Ferrari came in third in the Constructors’ Championship, but that did not mean they were competitive at any point during the season.
A Ferrari driver did not win a single race last season. Mercedes won the Constructors’ Championship with 613.5 points. Red Bull came in second with 585.5 points, and they were followed by Ferrari with 323.5 points.
This means Ferrari was not even competitive compared to Mercedes and Red Bull. This forced the racing organization to change the rules to create more competition. This was not a bad decision because it’s definitely making the races more exciting.
Ferrari winning the first race of the year and coming in the first two spots was a statement for the team. The Ferraris are here to race this season with the new rules, and Red Bull as well as Mercedes need to be on notice.
Charles Leclerc, who only had a single podium and one win in 2021, took home the top spot in Bahrain Grand Prix. He was followed across the finish line by Carlos Sainz Jr., who had four podiums last season.
Lewis Hamilton was third for Mercedes because the team had car issues throughout the weekend. Red Bull did not score a single point, which was shocking, considering Max Verstappen is the sport’s reigning champion. Both drivers did not finish the race, and this put the team in a hole to start the season.
The other storyline that came out of the first week of the season was Kevin Magnussen scoring points for Haas. Hass was the worst team in the sport last year, and they did not score a point. Because of the rule changes and Red Bull crashing, Haas was able to finish in the top five out of 20 drivers who started the race.
Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
The second race of the season was similar to the first, but there were still a few surprises. Max Verstappen took the lead in the final stretch of the race, giving Red Bull their first win of the season. This scored 25 points for himself and the team.
Sergio Perez, Red Bull’s second driver, came in fourth, which was an excellent race for the team. The Ferraris continued to run strong with a second and a third-place finish. This helped them jump out to an early lead in the points standings.
The main storylines were Kevin Magnussen picking up a ninth-place finish and adding two more points to Haas. Additionally, Lewis Hamilton had a terrible day finishing the race in tenth. This is a shocker, and it’s showing Mercedes is having a lot of car trouble.
Hamilton is a seven-time champion and the best driver in the world. Mercedes is having a car problem if he is finishing tenth, and I am sure they are working hard to fix the problem over the week break.
The next race of the season is the Australian Grand Prix on April 10. This starts the countdown to the biggest race of the season in Monaco on May 29.
